Do Not Prohibit Lawful Things
[5:87] O you who believe, do not prohibit good things that are made lawful by GOD, and do not aggress; GOD dislikes the aggressors.
[5:88] And eat from the good and lawful things that GOD has provided for you. You shall reverence GOD, in whom you are believers.
Preference is not the same as prohibition.
Going above the laws that God established does not make one more righteous. So by prohibiting more than God did you cannot be more godly than God.
[5:101] O you who believe, do not ask about matters which, if revealed to you prematurely, would hurt you. If you ask about them in light of the Quran, they will become obvious to you. GOD has deliberately overlooked them. GOD is Forgiver, Clement.
Human-made Dietary Prohibitions
[10:59] Say, “Did you note how GOD sends down to you all kinds of provisions, then you render some of them unlawful, and some lawful?” Say, “Did GOD give you permission to do this? Or, do you fabricate lies and attribute them to GOD?”
[10:60] Does it ever occur to those who fabricate lies about GOD that they will have to face Him on the Day of Resurrection? Certainly, GODshowers the people with His grace, but most of them are unappreciative.
Innovated Prohibitions Condemned
[7:32] Say, “Who prohibited the nice things GOD has created for His creatures, and the good provisions?” Say, “Such provisions are to be enjoyed in this life by those who believe. Moreover, the good provisions will be exclusively theirs on the Day of Resurrection.” We thus explain the revelations for people who know.
What is the difference between good & lawful?
Good doesn’t have a negative effect on your body. Lawful is for us to eat.
Does good and lawful relate to 2:61? Are lentils and cucumber inferior?
They are inferior because they had to be grown out of the ground and the others came down from the sky. But they are good and lawful. Some foods are not prohibited but they are not the best for you. Negates argument that you must eat organic, God knows and designed the provisions for us. The key is moderation.
[2:61] Recall that you said, “O Moses, we can no longer tolerate one kind of food. Call upon your Lord to produce for us such earthly crops as beans, cucumbers, garlic, lentils, and onions.” He said, “Do you wish to substitute that which is inferior for that which is good? Go down to Egypt, where you can find what you asked for.” They have incurred condemnation, humiliation, and disgrace, and brought upon themselves wrath from GOD. This is because they rejected GOD’s revelations, and killed the prophets unjustly. This is because they disobeyed and transgressed.
Are prohibition and aggression linked?
From the examples we see, it frequently seems so, as prohibitions are often instituted one group onto another. Saudis telling women that they have to cover head to toe is a prohibition and this is an aggression against ½ of the population.
