We read from 2:22 – 2:40. Some of the questions and items that we discussed during the study were the following:

  • 2:26 – What does God mean when describing the allegory of the mosquito “GOD does not shy away from citing any kind of allegory, from the tiny mosquito and greater.”? Someone compared this verse to 22:73: O people, here is a parable that you must ponder carefully: the idols you set up beside GOD can never create a fly, even if they banded together to do so. Furthermore, if the fly steals anything from them, they cannot recover it; weak is the pursuer and the pursued.
  • 2:26 – The expression “What did GOD mean by such an allegory?” occurs in 2:26 and 74:31.
  • 2+26+74+31 = 133 = 19×7
  • 2+74 = 76 = 19×4
  • 26 + 31 = 57 = 19×3
  • Number of verses from 2:26 – 74:31 = 5491 = 19×289
  • Additionally 2+8+9 = 19
  • 2:25 –  What does it mean when it says “this is what was provided to us previously”
  • 2:27 – What does it mean to sever what has been commanded to be joined?
  • 2:28 – Are the two deaths the death of the soul?
  • 2:28 – What does it mean to die?
  • 2:30 – Who is the representative?
  • Who is the god of the disbelievers?
  • How is freedom of choice established in a submitting community?
  • What is the responsibility of a ruler who is a submitter?

22:41 They are those who, if we appointed them as rulers on earth, they would establish the Contact Prayers (Salat) and the obligatory charity (Zakat), and would advocate righteousness and forbid evil. GOD is the ultimate ruler.
We didn’t watch any video clips, but did talk about POE the “problem of evil” and the transformation of a caterpillar to a butterfly
