Rejectors of God’s Messenger of the Covenant are Disbelievers
[3:82] Those who reject this (Quranic prophecy) are the evil ones.
[3:83] Are they seeking other than GOD’s religion, when everything in the heavens and the earth has submitted to Him, willingly and unwillingly, and to Him they will be returned?
According to 2:62 and 5:69 God tells us the minimum requirement is (1) to believe in God (2) believe in the Hereafter and (3) lead a righteous life. Then how do we explain that it is required to not reject the Messenger of the Covenant?
To believe in God is not just merely believing in God’s existence, but God’s word. So if we reject part of God’s scripture or His commandments then we are showing that we do not believe in God.
Anyone who believes in God, should believe in God’s prophecies and messengers.
We should have no reservations to proclaim what God states in the Quran, but need to understand what does it mean to reject.
The verse says reject, and there is a difference between not accepting something and rejecting something. Someone may not accept something because they haven’t made up their mind on the matter, but not necessarily rejecting it. Need to have tolerance and patience and if an individuals is sincere then God will open their heart and they will accept this proof.
This verse is not limited to just rejecting the Messenger of the Covenant, but rejecting any law from God. As new believers we try to purify ourselves and as long as we are not fighting then there is hope for that person.
If someone rejects the Messenger of the Covenant, they need to ask why?
God Guides Not the Liars
[40:28] A believing man among Pharaoh’s people, who was concealing his belief, said, “How can you kill a man just for saying, `My Lord is GOD,’ and he has shown you clear proofs from your Lord? If he is a liar, that is his problem, and if he is truthful, you benefit from his promises. Surely, GOD does not guide any transgressor, liar.
Humans have amplified the meaning of messenger as someone who is larger than life and this is not the way that God describes them. According to God messengers are just human beings like the rest of us. Because of this it makes it difficult for people to accept a messenger from God.
[14:11] Their messengers said to them, “We are no more than humans like you, but GOD blesses whomever He chooses from among His servants. We could not possibly show you any kind of authorization, except in accordance with GOD’s will. In GOD the believers shall trust.
[64:6] This is because their messengers went to them with clear proofs, but they said, “Shall we follow humans like us?” They disbelieved and turned away. GOD does not need them; GOD is in no need, Praiseworthy.
God tells us the three criteria of a person who claims to be a messenger of God: (1) preach the worship of God alone (2) don’t ask for a wage (3) provide a miracle as proof of their messengership.

HOW TO DISTINGUISH GOD’S MESSENGER FROM A FAKE MESSENGER

The Quran provides straightforward criteria to distinguish the true messengers of God from the false messengers: [1] God’s messenger advocates the worship of God ALONE, and the abolition of all forms of idol worship. [2] God’s messenger never asks for a wage for himself. [3] God’s messenger is given divine, incontrovertible proof of his messengership. Anyone who claims to be God’s messenger, and does not meet the three minimum criteria listed above is a false claimant. |
| The most important difference between God’s messenger and a fake messenger is that God’s messenger is supported by God, while the fake messenger is not:
* God’s messenger is supported by God’s invisible soldiers (3:124-126, 9:26 & 40, 33:9, 37:171-173, 48:4 & 7, 74:31). * God’s messenger is supported by God’s treasury (63:7-8). * God’s messenger, as well as the believers, are guaranteed victory and dignity, in this world and forever (40:51 & 58:21). |
Thus, the truthfulness of God’s messenger invariably prevails, while the falsehood of a fake messenger invariably, sooner or later, is exposed.
The person who claims to be a messenger of God and is not is an agent of the devil and is someone evil. Someone who makes such a false claim does not believe in God.
False Messengers Incapable of Preaching the Worship of God ALONE*
[26:210] The devils can never reveal this.
[26:211] They neither would, nor could.
[26:212] For they are prevented from hearing.
[26:213] Therefore, do not idolize beside GOD any other god, lest you incur the retribution.
The Message: Proof of Messengership
[7:75] The arrogant leaders among his people said to the common people who believed, “How do you know that Saaleh is sent by his Lord?” They said, “The message he brought has made us believers.”
The focus of all the messengers of God is “There is no god beside God.”
